Basically, e-government seeks to use information technologies and the Internet to transform the manner in which citizens interact with the government, mainly reinventing conventional processes to provide better access to government services.

The National e-Mexico System offers the community access to contents in different environments. One of them is to health, a highly relevant issue for contributing to the improvement of society's quality of life.

With this information system, the expectation is to broaden coverage of basic health services, as well as other services for the community. Also, it is sought to simplify red-tape procedures and publicize them, simplifying the administration's internal procedures and having less bureaucracy.

This is argument is born within this system, since it is a fundamental pillar for the well-being and quality of life for every citizen.

The objective is set forth to raise society's level of health prosperity, by means of the integration of a technological and social content system. Also to make comprehensive medical information available to the entire Mexican population, necessary for the contribution of human development and that of the health sector's institutions, eliminating barriers to information access and to health and social security services.

At the same time it is sought to offer information to the population on different issues related with hygiene and healthiness; generate a distance learning system on the matter of health; support for preventative medicine; integration of the efforts that have been made by private institutions on the subject of health; integration of a digital on line dossier; development a system of epidemiological control; create an electronic information exchange and communication on the matter of health.
