Is it necessary for me to provide personal information

Is it necessary for me to provide personal information?  How will my information be used? Who can have access to my information? It is very likely that these questions and other concerns have gone through your mind when you are asked for personal information as you enter a website, in order to allow you to register for browsing the website.

Frequently, users do not know for sure whether the site they are visiting can  be trusted or how any information provided by them will be used.  They have concerns about consequences for the safety and privacy of themselves and of their families.    These two matters are fundamental for the decisions users make regarding websites.

e-Mexico acknowledges this concern and makes it its own.  The full use of the tools that the e-Mexico portal contains requires that the person (user) be properly registered and therefore it is necessary to provide some personal data.  This information fulfills a twofold purpose:

a) That you get registered properly as a user so you can participate in a particular community or even create your own; plus you can best use the tools provided: discussion forums, bulletin boards, chat facilities and surveys among others.

b) Give some traits about yourself (such as tastes and preferences) that will allow us to customize your browsing experience through the portal with contents and information that are akin to you.

It is the responsibility of e-Mexico to safeguard your information and to guarantee that it will be used correctly.  Any record or information the user may add to the portal is absolutely confidential, it will not be sold or transferred to anyone except when demanded by law. It is e-Mexico’s promise that it will al all times guarantee compliance with this policy and respect the privacy to which all Internet users are entitled.

It is the responsibility of the users of the e-Mexico portal to have read the most current Privacy and Security Policy, as well as the Code of Ethics. e-Mexico reserves the right to change this policy.

1. What kind of information will you need to provide?

The e-Mexico portal will request personal user information as part of its registration process. This information (which includes name, email address, sex, age, occupation, country of origin, and marital status, among others) will be used to provide you with a username which will identify you as user of the portal.  Once you are registered as a user you will be able to navigate throughout the entire portal and will have access to each and every section it has, you will particularly be able to participate actively in any of the virtual communities in existence or you may even create your own.  You may also use the available resources: discussion forums, bulletin boards, chat rooms and surveys among others.

e-Mexico may also ask for personal information on other occasions, when you participate in some contest or promotion, o when you experience trouble using the portal services and ask us for help.

2.Who is the information for?

There are websites in the Internet where information is traded or sold to third parties where you don’t know exactly who will have access to it, and even worse, for what purposes.

This is not the case of e-Mexico.  e-Mexico’s sole commitment is to its users.  Only the technical group of e-Mexico and the community leaders will have access to information provided by our users. These groups respond exclusively to the interests of e-Mexico and under no circumstances whatsoever will they be able to triangulate the personal information of portal users to any persons, government organizations or business corporations.

3.Can the information be shared?

The personal information provided to us by the user (as a basic requirement to register with the e-Mexico portal) will not be disclosed or shared with any other individual or organization as stated above.  However, one of the key aspects of this portal is the possibility that users join communities and interact digitally, through chat rooms with all members.  E-mails sent will be visible to the rest of the members of the community where they are registered.  As a rule, e-Mexico will not disclose any of your personal information, except when having expressly received permission form you or under special circumstances, when the law requires.

E-mail addresses will be used to answer specific user questions and will not be saved or used for any other purpose.  E-mail addresses will not be added to any mailing list without your consent, and may not be disclosed without the consent of the users.

Occasionally, e-Mexico reserves the right to use third parties (some government agencies) to gather or distribute information about you and other members. E-Mexico will protect the good use of such information at all times.

4.How can I update or delete my information?

To change or delete any of the information provided, you will need to contact the leader of your community.  If that should not be possible for whatever reason, you may contact the technical group of e-Mexico.  That’s the most effective way to update or delete any information you as a user wish to remove from the portal.

You may change your e-mail password any time you want If you forgot your password, you can ask for it again.
